UK Fire Door Training has launched an interactive learning resource allowing users to explore fire door components, dismantle assemblies and simulate fire test scenarios
UK Fire Door Training has launched a free interactive 3D platform designed to help building professionals understand fire door components, specification and performance.
Fire Door Anatomy, available at anatomy.ukfiredoortraining.com, combines interactive 3D models with approximately 19,000 words of technical content, an exploded fire door assembly, an educational fire test simulation and knowledge checks.
Users can rotate and dismantle the assembly, explore ten common fire and escape door components and examine the internal workings of a door closer. The platform also provides information on component functions, materials, specification, relevant standards, common defects and inspection considerations.
A key feature is the educational fire test simulation, which allows users to configure a specimen, introduce faults and explore their potential consequences. Scenarios include oversized gaps, unsuitable glazing and missing intumescent protection around a lock.
The simulation is intended to demonstrate fire safety principles rather than predict real-world fire performance.
According to UK Fire Door Training, the platform’s technical content was independently reviewed by two consultancies during development. The reviews totalled 134 pages, with feedback considered and incorporated before launch.
Jonny Millard, Managing Director of UK Fire Door Training, said the resource was developed to make technical information more accessible while retaining detail.
“Fire doors are physical systems but much of the learning around them is still delivered through flat images, slides, diagrams and PDFs,” Millard said. “Those formats still have an important place but they shouldn’t define the limit of what fire safety education can be.”
He added that the platform had been made free to help fire door knowledge reach a wider audience.
UK Fire Door Training plans to release further tools and learning resources over the next 12 months as part of a wider programme of product and service development.
